Colorado nonprofit SpokesBUZZ is encouraging music fans nationwide to think locally and rock globally with the announcement of details about the BandSwap 2014 program's local events, including concert dates and venues for the participating partner bands. See below for details.

This year, the program will send Colorado bands to play shows with partner bands in partner cities in late September, then bring the bands and their partners back to Colorado for a series of shows and events in early October; the "Homecoming Events" of October will be announced soon.

The 2014 Colorado bands are: Stella Luce (Fort Collins), The Yawpers (Denver), Gasoline Lollipops (Boulder), Eldren (Denver), Winchester Holiday (Fort Collins), The Deadwood Saints (Fort Collins), Shatterproof (Fort Collins), and Maxwell Hughes (Fort Collins).

The 2014 partner bands are: Lords of the Trident (Madison, Wis.), Jordan Igoe (Charleston, S.C.), Bonsoir, Catin (Lafayette, La.), k i d s (Athens, Ga.), Phin (Nashville, Tenn.), Amanda Broadway (Nashville, Tenn.), The LoLos (Chico, Calif.), and Lewi Longmire & the Left Coast Roasters (Portland, Ore.).

BandSwap is a musical and cultural alliance among like-minded cities combining the best of grassroots collaboration, cross-promotion, creative connectivity and most of all, the unrivaled experience of live music.

Returning as partner cities in the BandSwap 2014 program are Madison, Chico, Lafayette, Portland and Nashville; Athens and Charleston are this year's freshman class.

BandSwap creates a stage for other opportunities for connections among the cities through innovative cultural programming. This year, in addition to the performances in outbound cities and homecoming cities, BandSwap includes InnovationSwap, SynchroniCITY parties and Cultural Spotlight.
Please stay tuned, as we'll be announcing more details (on the Homecoming Events in Colorado, specifically) in the coming months. And bookmark the BandSwap website and SpokesBUZZ Facebook page for more updates.

SpokesBUZZ founder Dani Grant says, "Traditional touring is linear and very slow to grow. The theory behind BandSwap is to build reciprocity and strong relationships with bands, venues, civic partners, music industry professionals and local artist support organizations. That reciprocity helps create a network that can grow fan bases for artists and spread some civic pride at the same time.... In addition to sharing a stage and marquee in their respective cities, all the bands will also share resources, industry contacts and community connections while attracting attention to this unique program and the progressive cities that embody BandSwap's cooperative, creative spirit."

About BandSwap

BandSwap began in 2012 as an effort to deconstruct the limiting, linear touring model that can hinder progress for today's musicians. The program has since grown from an exchange of shows and fans between bands to include an exchange of expertise, education, innovation, connection and culture between like-minded cities. In 2014, BandSwap includes:

  • Performances in the outbound BandSwap cities, with seven Colorado bands traveling to play shows with partnering bands in late September
  • A "Homecoming" celebration, with the Colorado bands returning with their partnering bands for shows in Fort Collins and Denver in early October
  • Educational opportunities and networking events via SynchroniCITY parties hosted in every BandSwap city
  • InnovationSwap: a chance for various BandSwap cities to share ideas and entrepreneurial energy
  • Farm-to-table cuisine, craft beer, and other local flavor on offer in BandSwap's inaugural Cultural Spotlight
