SHOWCASE 61 Brings Contemporary Music Artists to Stamford's Palace Theatre Tonight

A brand new series featuring contemporary music artists, Showcase 61 will bring well-known performers as well as emerging artists to a club-like venue in Stamford's Palace Theatre this spring.

"This series is exactly what Stamford needs, and best of all, most shows are free," said BT McNicholl, the Palace's Producing Artistic Director. "Stamford has emerged as a robust, diversified, and youthful environment. We're always looking for ways to engage new audiences and this seems like a perfect way to do just that. This has potential to be the Mercury Lounge or Rockwood Music Hall of Fairfield County."

Dubbed a 'listening experience,' the space will not only feature emerging national talent, but also special lighting, custom-designed tablecloths, a full bar with specialty cocktails from Berkshire Mountain Distillers and unique brews from Berkshire Brewing Company, and the option to order food via a mobile app from Station Eats. All shows are free to the public unless noted. The current schedule is below.

TONIGHT, March 27th - IMPORTED NYC: The Boston Boys
Inspired by bedrock musicians such as The Beatles, Paul Simon, and Bill Monroe, The Boston Boys are an American band crossing genres with more modern artists like D'Angelo, The Wood Brothers, and Wilco. By design, their pure and fierce energy is an experience intended to move every listener's musical touchstones. Free to the public.

Thursday, April 3rd - CT1 MEDIA PRESENTS CT MUSIC AWARDS: Voting Kick-Off Party featuring Little Ugly
Hosted by CTNOW's Chip McCabe, this event will kick off the voting for CT1 Media's CT Music Awards where readers from across the state vote on their favorite local bands and then attend concerts where the nominated bands perform. With its "indie rock, folk, even tiny bits of country, blues and plain old rock n' roll" flavor, the "Best Band in CT" (recently crowned by the New England Music Awards), Little Ugly will rock the Showcase stage and get Connecticut pumped about its local music scene.

Friday, April 25th - IMPORTED NYC: The Rooks
The Rooks are a New York City based R&B/IndieSoul sextet just funky enough to make your mother nervous. The group formed at Wesleyan University, bonding over a mutual love of listening to Beyonce, playing at house parties, and performing Motown covers. They continue to do all three in excess.

Thursday, May 15th - SOUNDTRACKS LIVE: The Music of 'American Hustle'
An all-star band of nationally touring musicians and regional guest stars will recreate the classic 70s soundtrack from the Oscar winning film, American Hustle. Whether it's Duke Ellington or the Bee Gees, you'll channel your inner disco queen or king in a fun and casual setting. All tickets are $15.
