Norwegian born singer-songwriter Rebekka Karjord debuts video "Use My Body While It' Still Young" on Jezebel today. The release of her second international album, WE BECOME OURSLVES, will be available for the first time in the states on February 5th, 2015 via Control Freak Kitten Records.
"Use My Body While It's Still Young" video pairs Karijord's ghostly voice with tribal percussion, organ instrumentation, and the visualization of ballet. Siv Andre, the 75 year-old featured ballet dance pioneer from Sweden, gives the visual contradiction of a strong yet fragile body dancing through space in the same regards as Karijord's vulnerable yet powerful vocals. The natural and tree-like organ, crafted by artists Gustaf von Arbin, represents the human heart, reminding the viewer to "...remember our death, because that will make you live fuller and more courageousely." "When I wrote the song I knew I wanted to have some sort of a visual contradiction to it, because of the quite direct lyrics and title. I imagined a sensual, older body expressing vitality and power. I find that older peoples sexuality and bodies, and a specially female bodies, are one of the last taboos in our very youth fixated society.
