Nolan Taylor Releases New 1:17AM EP Via Atlantic Outpost
The Nashville-based artist will tour headline dates before supporting Shovels & Rope this fall.
Nolan Taylor has released his 1:17AM EP, available everywhere now via Atlantic Outpost. Recorded in Los Angeles with producer Zach Dawes (Lana Del Rey, Sharon Van Etten), 1:17AM is the follow up to his 2025 self-titled debut album and marks a new chapter for the Ohio-bred, Nashville-based troubadour.
Nolan shares, 'In 2026, I'm just a sad songwriting fool. In the new music, there's some Americana and indie rock, but I'm a folk singer at the end of the day. I stay true to my roots. After all of this time, the new EP really represents how I've always wanted to sound.'
The six-song EP features Nolan's honest and emotionally vulnerable songwriting that fans have come to know and love. Opening with the single 'Come Back To Bed' featuring Andy Hull of Manchester Orchestra, he paints a picture with poetic lyrics such as, 'The blanket in my living room longs to take the shape of you.' Nolan and Andy trades verses until a heartfelt hook takes hold with a plea, 'So come on baby... come back to bed.' Implementing an open tuning on his acoustic guitar, delicate finger-picking complements his soft intonation on 'I'd Die.' You can practically hear him exhale as he sings, 'I miss so much out on the road. I miss my family. No one ever calls no more. They all say I'm too busy, but I'm just lonely.' Meanwhile, dusty percussion tiptoes behind Nolan's evocative delivery on 'Burying a Friend,' a poignant song about one of his best friends dying from an overdose.
Nolan will be performing some of the new music on a run of headline shows in the coming weeks, beginning in Indianapolis, Indiana, on September 2. Following those dates, he'll stay on the road to support Shovels & Rope on their fall tour throughout October (see tour itinerary below). As a songwriter, Nolan Taylor shoots straight. He doesn't sugarcoat anything or overcomplicate the language. Instead, he says exactly what's on his mind. When he scrawls down words with a pen, it's as if he draws a direct line from his heart to the page. Simultaneously, his range is anything but straightforward. He can belt out pain from the gut or soothe with a gentle melody—often within the space of the same song. During his childhood in the small town of Blanchester, OH, he endured what seemed like an endless string of trials and tribulations. Poverty, addiction, and mental health struggles plagued his family and friends. Nevertheless, he found solace in music. Post-high school, he pursued his dream wholeheartedly. He went viral with '68' and delivered EPs including Life & Love and Live From The Living Room. However, everything just paved the way for his acclaimed self-titled full-length debut, Nolan Taylor, in 2025. Along the way, he has sold out headline tours and supported Band of Horses, Charley Crockett, City and Colour, and The Revivalists. Moreover, he cut 'Driving You Home' for the Grammy Award-nominated Twisters: The Album. Now, the Ohio-bred and Nashville-based troubadour continues to cut deep enough to strike a chord on his 1:17AM EP, out now via Atlantic Outpost.
