The New York Choral Society (NYChoral) has just announced the appointment of Patrick Owens as its first ever full-time Executive Director. Mr. Owens will be responsible for the oversight and management of all administrative aspects of NYChoral, including fundraising, marketing, board interaction and development, and day-to-day operations, working in partnership with Music Director David Hayes and the organization's volunteer staff.

"The Search Committee and the entire Board of Trustees are thrilled to have Patrick join NYChoral as our Executive Director," said Michael Colosi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees. "This is an extraordinary time of transformation for our organization and we are confident Patrick will lead us to the next level."

"I'm delighted to welcome Patrick to the NYChoral staff. His knowledge and experience are precisely what is needed to provide the high quality administrative support to allow our artistic vision to flourish", said Music Director David Hayes. "I'm already feeling that he and I will make an effective team that will, along with the Board of Trustees and our exceptional volunteers, lead NYChoral into its future."

Patrick Owens brings considerable experience to this new post. Most recently he founded P5G Partners, a consulting firm which provides business planning, program development and board development solutions to nonprofit cultural and service organizations. He will be winding down his commitment to P5G Partners while continuing to serve as President of the Board of Directors of Visual AIDS, the only contemporary nonprofit arts and advocacy organization dedicated to using contemporary art to raise awareness of HIV and AIDS. Mr. Owens' background in both the arts and finance have given him a unique outlook on how to create organizations that are resilient, curious, and responsive to changing markets and changing audience behaviors, wishes, and tastes.

"I am honored and excited to work with NYChoral's passionate community of choral members, leadership, and Music Director, David Hayes, to build on its rich history of creativity and musical excellence," says Mr. Owens. "The New York Choral Society has an outstanding reputation for presenting masterpieces of the great choral tradition as well as brilliant modern and contemporary works. This a particularly adventurous time for the ensemble, and I look forward to introducing NYChoral to new audiences here in New York and around the world."

Mr. Owens has launched and managed capital markets, banking, and business development divisions for large international banks, has advised on a variety of mergers and acquisitions in the financial services sectors, and has coordinated mergers of cross-border banking platforms. He has developed a wide range of arts projects and commercial gallery programs. He has curated numerous exhibitions, produced numerous projects, and has collaborated with a range of artists across a variety of media. As co-founder of The Lipton Owens Company, a contemporary art company and gallery, he focused on introducing emerging and mid-career artists to audiences throughout the United States. Mr. Owens holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Manhattan College and Master of Public Administration from New York University's Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service.

Mr. Owens lives with his husband in New York City.
