Drenched in inspirations and infatuations with hip-hop's golden years comes 'Beats Vol. 1', the 21-track debut mixtape from Sydney's synthesiser extraordinaire MXXWLL. Released through his own homegrown 'Rare Chords' imprint on 'Beats Vol. 1', the one man beat-maker brings G-Funk into the 21st-century with a collection of era-redefining instrumentals designed to move and groove the masses.
A multi-instrumentalist from a young age MXXWLL makes his music with the power of four, using his vast collection of MOOG synthesisers, guitars and old school MPC samplers to meticulously craft beats that bump hard. Building his reputation from the ground up through impromptu jam sessions streamed through his Facebook page, MXXWLL quickly showed the music world what he was capable of. As video hits went from the hundreds of thousands to the millions in a heartbeat, hip-hop icons in Snoop Dogg, Jazzy Jeff and 2-Pac producer Battlecat all soon became converts to the MXXWLL name, singing his praises while the producer was still spending countless late-nights in his spare room studio. As his name rose so too did the artists queuing up to bless their records with a little MXXWLL finesse. Last year, he gave the Snakehips and ZAYN chart hit 'Cruel' a smooth R&B flavour, and in 2016 Rationale's 'Fast Lane' became a modern slow jam classic with MXXWLL's magic touch. But MXXWLL owes his talents to the hip-hop grandmasters he was raised on, from J Dilla's studio mastery to Outkast's southern soul, and on 'Beats Vol. 1' he steps out from behind the scenes to become an artist at the forefront. For more information on MXXWLL, please visit:
