When the great Argentinean tango master Astor Piazzolla died in 1992, there were few musicians keeping his music alive. But thankfully Argentine-born, Brooklyn-based bassist, bandleader and producer Pablo Aslan has brought an extraordinary focus on tango's relationship to jazz, and on Piazzolla's ideas about jazz tango. Piazzolla in Brooklyn, the latest recording by Aslan, was inspired by Take Me Dancing, a 1959 jazz tango recording by Astor Piazzolla. Newly recorded in Buenos Aires with a group of musically bilingual Argentine players, Piazzolla in Brooklyn updates Take Me Dancinginto state-of-the-art jazz tango.Join us for a one-night performance of the rebirth of jazz tango!
