Lua Hadar Announces Twist Concert & Music Video Premiere At Fort Mason, San Francisco

By:

Multi-lingual vocalist Lua Hadar appears with her band Twist live in concert, premiering a new music video set to Lua's original song, Our Common Humanity.

Coming from the traditions of theatre and cabaret, Hadar is a storyteller who gathers in the audience and takes them with her on a voyage, around the world and back through time. Twist's program for May 26 will include songs in seven languages that all advance the theme of the common heritage of humanity. Common needs, fears and joys characterize the human experience. Some samplings: In French, we have the song about immigration rights, Born Somewhere, by French pop star Maxime LeForestier, as well as his famous song about the Blue House, San Francisco, written as a thank you note for his visit here in 1967.

In Japanese and in Malagasy (language of Madagascar) we have songs whose words offer encouragement in times of struggle. In Spanish, Juan Luis Guerra's Ojalà Que Llueva Café dreams of when food will rain down from the sky. Gil Scott Heron's It's Your World and Wayne Green's The World is Ours to Change offer words of empowerment to stand up for ourselves and for the type of world we want to live in. The Hebrew folk song Hine Ma Tov speaks of unity of spirit for all humankind.

Lua's versatile band plays in many styles, twisting the grooves of source material, as Hadar's voice soars and growls. Piano: Jason Martineau; Bass: Sascha Jacobsen; Drums: Celso Alberti; Percussion: Ian Dogole; Reeds: Sheldon Brown; Backup Vocals: Candace Forest & Claudia Landivar.

Saturday, May 26 at 6:00pm, SF International Arts Festival, Fort Mason Center for the Arts and Culture, 2 Marina Blvd, San Francisco, Gallery 308 Building A. All ages.
