Lily Allen Done with BRIDGET JONES DIARY Musical: 'I'm Out of the Picture'!

Back in 2010, BWW reported that singer and actress Lily Allen had become the composer for the upcoming musical BRIDGET JONES' DIARY, which at the time, was set to hit the stage in 2011 in London's West End. The musical is based on the book by Helen Fielding and the following film which starred Renee Zellweger.

At the time, it was reported that Allen had already completed one song, but has 11 more to go. One source was quoted as saying, "It's a huge deal and a huge job. Lily's not on a roll yet as she's only finished one but she has a lot of ideas."

Today, Billboard reports that Allen is no longer composing music for the project. "I wrote some great music for it, but [original book author] Helen Fielding wants to go back and write a whole new story. It's been a long-term project and I was happy to do my bit but now I'm out of the picture," Allen told UK's The Sun.

The stage adaptation of the film still plans on making its premiere on the West End at "some point in the future." No further details have been released as to who will take over composing duties.

The musical is to be based on Fielding's original newspaper columns about a 32-year-old who keeps a diary detailing her hilarious attempts to take control of her life and find a man. The columns inspired Fielding to write two best-selling books - Bridget Jones's Diary and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason - which were later turned into hit movies starring Zellweger.
