NINTH ANNUAL GRAMMY MUSEUM GRAMMY WEEK EVENT on January 25, 2018. The event is presented by Ford Motor Company Fund.
Attendees include members of GRAMMY Camp®-Jazz Session along with special guest performer and past GRAMMY Camp-Jazz Session participant Jon Batiste; Pamela Alexander, director, community development, Ford Motor Company Fund; and Neil Portnow, President/CEO of the Recording Academy™ and Board Chair of the GRAMMY Museum®. The recipient of the Recording Academy and the GRAMMY Museum's fifth annual Music Educator Award™ will also be in attendance.

The GRAMMY Museum's GRAMMY in the Schools programs (including GRAMMY Camp, GRAMMY Camp-Weekend, GRAMMY Camp-Jazz Session,GRAMMY Signature Schools, Jane Ortner
Education Award, and more) are for U.S. high school students and schools. These programs receive support from Ford Motor Company Fund as part of Ford's commitment to music education.
GRAMMY Camp offers selected high school students an interactive nonresidential summer music experience. Focusing on all aspects of commercial music, this unique opportunity provides instruction by industry professionals in an immersive creative environment with cutting-edge technology in professional facilities. The program offers eight music career tracks: Audio Engineering; Electronic Music Production; Music Business; Music Journalism; Performance-Instrumental; Performance-Vocal; Songwriting; and Video Production. All tracks culminate in media projects, recordings and/or showcase performances. Funds help support scholarships to program participants. The 2018 GRAMMY Camp application deadline is March 31, 2018. Financial assistance is available to qualified applicants.
High school instrumentalists can audition for the GRAMMY Camp-Jazz Session. Selectees will travel to the host city for the annual GRAMMY Awards®, and students will participate in high-profile GRAMMY Week performances; recording sessions and will attend the GRAMMY telecast. The deadline for the 2018 GRAMMY Camp-Jazz
Session and GRAMMY Signature Schools programs is Oct. 22, 2018. Applications are available at

The Music Educator Award was established to recognize current educators (kindergarten through college, public and private schools) who have made a significant and lasting contribution to the field of music education and who demonstrate a commitment to the broader cause of maintaining music education in the schools. A joint partnership and presentation of the Recording Academy and the GRAMMY Museum, this special award will be presented on the Recording Academy's "Salute To GRAMMY Legends" PBS special. The deadline to nominate a teacher for the sixth annual award is March 15, 2018.

Education Award celebrates K-12 educators who integrate music into English, social studies, math, science, and foreign language instruction.
Applicants submit one original unit of lessons that incorporates music and are then eligible for prizes and unique professional development opportunities. In addition to our annual award, the program offers free professional development webinars, workshops in Los
Angeles and across the country, and an online library of music-integrated lessons for use in the classroom.
ABOUT JON BATISTE: Jon Batiste is an internationally acclaimed musician, bandleader, and composer. As an educator and television personality, he spreads his unbridled optimism coupled with a profound understanding of the arts. Born into a long lineage of New
Orleans musicians, Batiste is a graduate of The Juilliard School with a master's degree. After graduating, he toured globally with his band Stay Human and currently appears nightly on national television as the bandleader and musical director on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert." Jon is a Forbes 30 under 30 honoree, musical director for The Atlantic and creative director of the National Jazz Museum in Harlem. He balances a demanding performance schedule with speaking engagements, curating events, occasional acting and producing opportunities, all while relentlessly composing new music. His latest album
Social Music, spent over a month atop the Billboard and iTunes jazz charts as the No. 1 jazz album in the world. Jon is also a coveted brand ambassador-featured in campaigns for Chase, Apple, Lincoln Motor Company, and numerous fashion brands, including Ralph Lauren, Barney's, Bonobos, Nordstrom, and H&M.
