"These aren't necessarily the songs I wanted to write, but they were the ones I had to write," LA's Jenny O. says of the material that became Peace & Information, her sophomore record which is set to be released August 4th and the second she's collaborated on with producer Jonathan Wilson (Father John Misty, Conor Oberst, Dawes). Courtesy of KCRW, listen to the latest track "People" HERE.

Of the song Jenny said: "It's about equality. I was trying to write about racism, authority - how can anyone feel superior to anyone else? I was also singing 'power to the people,' celebrating dissent as a healthy component of democracy. When people are protesting for their lives, listen to them. Change is a long game but it begins with dissent and compassion."
In addition to human rights, much of the record speaks to Jenny working through more inward issues including difficult personal relationships, depression, trauma-related PTSD and more. To do so she moved into an 18th-century log cabin in Nashville that had belonged to Jimmy Buffet in the '70s. "It was the most beautiful, the cheapest, and the most necessary place I've ever lived," she says.
It was here that she wrote the songs that became Peace & Information. After spending eight months there, the cabin was bulldozed to make way for condominiums. She returned to Los Angeles to record the album with Wilson. "I declare it rock & roll, but this time we used more synthesizers and grunge guitar, and there's a depression bossa nova on there too," Jenny said.
