In the documentary film Hired Gun: Out of the Shadows, Into the Spotlight, an elite group of "First Call, A-List" musicians share their behind-the scene stories of touring, what it takes to play next to the world's most iconic musicians and create some of the world's most popular songs. To complement the storyline, Grammy Award-nominated, platinum-certified electronic dance innovator THE CRYSTAL METHOD with Tobias Enhus have crafted the original music score HIRED GUN: OUT OF THE SHADOWS, INTO THE SPOTLIGHT out September 22 on Tiny e Records.

The film depicts revealing stories about the origins of some of the most widely cherished music and its true players. Tales from Alice Cooper, David Foster, Ray Parker Jr. (Ghostbusters), Steve Vai, Jay Graydon (Steely Dan), Jason Hook (Five Finger Death Punch), Phil X (Bon Jovi), Kenny Aronoff (John Mellencamp), Rudy Sarzo (Ozzy Osbourne), Jason Newsted (Metallica), Mark Schulman (P!NK), Eric Singer (KISS), John 5 (Rob Zombie), Glen Sobel, Nita Strauss (Alice Cooper), Steve Lukather (Michael Jackson, Toto), Paul Bushnell (Katy Perry), Derek St. Holmes (Ted Nugent), Chris Johnson (Rihanna) and others are embellished by music by THE CRYSTAL METHOD (who is Scott Kirkland). Additional players that collaborate with THE CRYSTAL METHOD on various score pieces include other documentary subjects Liberty Devitto (Billy Joel), Brian West and Justin Derrico as well as TOOL's Justin Chancellor.

Hired Gun director Fran Strine highlights several key scenes where THE CRYSTAL METHOD score is prominent:

"We Miss Doug": There are some really heavy topics in the film, when Liberty Devitto and Russell Javors (longtime players with Billy Joel) discuss Doug Stegmeyer's suicide. Scott really hit the mark on this score. I can't tell you how many times I've seen audience members tear up during this segment.

"Wake For Randy": During the Rudy Sarzo and Brad Gillis segment about the tragic passing of Randy Rhodes, the swelling of the music really elevates the story exactly the way we intended during the spotting session.

"We Miss Cliff" featuring Justin Cancellor: Loved what Justin did for the Cliff Burton pieceI lot of pressure was put on Scott as we used Metallica's "Orion" as temp music...What Scott delivered was chilling and absolutely perfect!

"Being a fan of music documentaries, I jumped at the opportunity to view an early cut of Hired Gun. Fran's a great story teller so it didn't take me long to realize I wanted to be a part of this project," shares Scott Kirkland. "The scene that immediately spoke to me was Rudy Sarzo's retelling of that tragic day in March of 1982 when the world lost Randy Rhodes. I became a kid again, staring at the family's 20" Magnavox TV in shock, as an awkward reporter with an MTV hat told the world he was gone. I stopped everything and started writing and from that initial demo I got the gig. This project allowed me to explore so many different genres and emotions that I found it to be so creatively stimulating. The night before the entire score was due they sent me the Cliff Burton scene. So I asked my mate Justin Chancellor to stop by after rehearsal and watch it with me because I knew he like myself and so many others worshiped Cliff. Justin is so brilliant and plays with his heart. I'm thrilled that my good friend Tobias Enhus was able to join me and couldn't be prouder of our contribution to this awesome project."

Produced by Fran Strine, Tim Calandrello, Jason Hook and Todd Poulson, Hired Gun: Out of the Shadows, Into the Spotlight was released by Vision Films in theaters across the US in partnership with Fathom Events in June 2017 and released on Blu-ray, DVD and VOD in August in partnership with Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Additionally, Worldwide Distributor Vision Films created subtitles in 26 languages and will release it globally on several VOD platforms for music fans across the globe beginning on September 15. Currently Hired Gun is Amazon's Top Choice for four consecutive weeks in Music Documentaries.

THE CRYSTAL METHOD is currently in the studio recording a new album, the follow-up to 2014's self-titled The Crystal Method.

About THE CRYSTAL METHOD:
THE CRYSTAL METHOD's first singles would be released only on vinyl followed by their 1997 debut album Vegas, which would become certified platinum by the RIAA. In between releasing albums and never-ending tours, The Crystal Method's founders Scott Kirkland and Ken Jordan's demand amplified within the film and television worlds. They delivered the smash "(Can't You) Trip Like I Do" with Filter's Richard Patrick for the gold-selling Spawn soundtrack, wrote the theme song for "Bones," scored the indie film London and the J.J. Abrams-produced "Almost Human" for Fox. They also scored characters for The League of Legends video game, and contributed music to everything from Real Steel to Fast & Furious 6, along the way working with Danny Elfman, Tom Morello, LeAnn Rimes, Scott Weiland, Metric's Emily Haines, LMFAO and even film star Milla Jovovich. Legion of Boom notched a 2004 Grammy Award nomination for "Best Dance/Electronic Album"-during the category's first year. They also received another Grammy nomination for Divided By Night in 2009, while delivering unforgettable sets on the stages of Coachella, Lollapalooza and Electric Daisy Carnival to name a few.
