Legendary jazz pianist Arturo O'Farrill hosts the premiere NYC trip of Venezuela's Simon Bolivar Big Band Jazz. Join us for a musical evening and a rare chance to experience the El Sistema model, which has transformed hundreds of thousands of children's lives globally.

In protest of age old stereotypes of black women, filmmaker Aiesha Turman gives nine young, ethnically diverse African-American women a platform to speak out as she challenges them to chart their own destiny and reveal the full range of their vibrant lives.

Multi-Grammy nominee Miguel Zenón re-imagines beloved Puerto Rican tunes in Alma Adentro: the Puerto Rican Songbook. This concert features music by renowned songwriters from Isla del Encanto, including Rafael Hernandez, Pedro Flores, Silvia Rexach, Bobby Capó, and Tite Curet.

EDUCATION ON Harlem Stage PRESENTS: UPTOWN OPEN
5:00 pm at Harlem Stage Gatehouse, 150 Convent Avenue (at West. 135th St.)

Calling all teen poets, spoken word artists, emcees, scholars, and activists with something to say. Sign up to share your powerful and important voices. Outfitted with youth DJs, this uncensored space provides a platform for teens to be heard.

UPTOWN NIGHTS PRESENTS: JUMP N FUNK LIVE

The Gatehouse becomes a shrine as we celebrate the spirit and legacy of Fela Anikulapo Kuti for the 10th Anniversary of DJ Rich Medina's legendary party, Jump N Funk. Medina, visual artist Mark Hines and live music guests ZoZo Afrobeat use the politically potent force of art to resist, rebel and liberate.
