With support from PAPER, FUSE, ELLE, and others, Nina Diaz released her highly anticipated debut full-length album The Beat Is Dead last month via Cosmica Records. Originally premiered by NPR First Listen, the 13-song collection of fiery prose and blazing guitar riffs shines a light on Nina's electrifying rock'n'roll repertoire and introspective nature, simultaneously tapping into a dark emotive place and the triumphant strength of her road to sobriety. This weekend, she discussed the journey that lead to the powerful project with NPR's Weekend Edition.

Revered for fronting the latina punk band Girl In A Coma, touring with Morrissey, Tegan and Sara, Frank Black, The Pogues and more, Nina Diaz' wildly seductive live performance & warm sense of humor has enraptured fans across the world. This week, she wrapped up a national tour to support The Beat Is Dead. Fans unable to catch her on this run can can watch a performance of "January 9th", "Dig" and "For You" in her recent NPR Tiny Desk Concert.
