With uninhibited folk tones tinged by another time, Former Belle returns to bring fresh takes on the folk tradition inspired by artists both old and new with the release of their debut EP Foreign Bed. Led by singer-songwriter and CRUISR guitarist Bruno Catrambone, and calling to mind the melancholy of Elliott Smith and Bright Eyes, the 6-track EP is out now via Randm Records.
Akin to the changing season, Foreign Bed ebbs and flows from moments of acoustic stillness to triumphant synth lines. Inspired by personal life changes as well as the desire to figure out what it all means, Catrambone composed the EP in segments in his time off from CRUISR shows. "I Was Waiting For You" brings Catrambone's guitar prowess to light as he captures the listener with his acoustic guitar and raw vocals. Meanwhile, the simple piano cadence and classic folk strum of "Honey Bee" follows questions asked in vain. The bittersweet story in "I Woke Up in Chicago" longs for a listener, and we're excited to share it's video companion with you via Pancakes and Whiskey. On the captivating video, Bruno had this to share: " I knew right away, I needed to make a video like that; a cartoon world and someone walking through it. I couldn't believe how captivating it was to watch a human placed into a paper world like that."Videos
