It's just possible country singer Phil Vassar had Orem, Utah, in mind when he penned his chart-topping song, "Just Another Day in Paradise." And if not, he might just alter his opinion in the Utah city's favor when he performs under the stars at the SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre on Monday, August 18 @ 8pm.

Vassar, a prolific songwriter and much-awarded musician, will perform and showcase such hits as "In A Real Love," "Carlene," "Last Day of My Life" and "American Girl."

Tickets are available at www.scera.org, by phone at (801) 225-ARTS, or in person from 10am-6pm weekdays and Saturdays from 12Noon-6pm at SCERA Center for the Arts, 745 South State, Orem. General admission tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for children (age 3-11), seniors (age 65+) and students (w/ID). Reserved area tickets, if available, range from $25 to $35 for adults and $20 to $30 for children, seniors and students.

Phil Vassar has an armload of hits featuring his own vibrant country voice, and he is a welcome presence in Nashville where, as a prolific songwriter, he has created top hits for such major country stars as Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson and Jo Dee Messina. His "The Sound of a Million Dreams" was honored as Billboard's number one selection among country songs in 2012.

His career has been highlighted by nine albums, two ASCAP Songwriter of the Year trophies and the Billboard Country Songwriter of the Year award (among a mantle full of awards at home). His hits have ranged from soulful ballads, mid-tempos, infectious up-tempos, and even silly kinds of songs. Especially dear to him is his own Rodeowave Entertainment label.

He has been interviewed many times during his prolific career, but his message remains constant: "It's important for a song to carry a message and make the listener feel something."

"Phil Vassar is coming to us the day after a concert in Texas, and we're thrilled he could work us in," says Adam J. Robertson, SCERA's President and CEO. "He will follow our concert with a summers' worth of performances in New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and other Eastern venues. He's a popular performer known for his family-friendly style and fun-loving approach to music, and we welcome him to Utah."
