Today, GRAMMY Award-nominated, multiplatinum-selling singer, songwriter, producer, actor, and philanthropist, Mario releases his brand new single "Drowning." The video for "Drowning" premiered exclusively on Billboard.com. The track heralds the upcoming arrival of his long-awaited fifth full-length album, Dancing Shadows, set for release this fall in a partnership with EMPIRE and Mario's own, New Citizen label.

"Drowning" continues a legacy of blockbuster vocal performances from the pop/r&b icon. Mario's instantly recognizable falsetto takes hold and doesn't let go over a simmering and stark production. It's that same voice the world fell in love with on hits such as "Let Me Love You," and "How Do I Breathe," but, "Drowning" sees Mario soar to new heights yet again.

Of the song, Mario says, "This song is about being faced with the reality of having multiple women I love for different reasons. One is based on infatuation and lust, and the other is a lingering love connection that has not yet ended. As a man, I'm finding myself drowning in the middle one's tears and the flow of sexual attraction to the other. As I share a story about highs, lows, and the grey space in between love and lust, fans can expect to feel reconnected to me."

It's also the perfect precursor to what promises to be the artist's most powerful, passionate, and personal offering to date, Dancing Shadows. It's been a long time coming since the release of D.N.A. in 2009, but Mario made good on every promise as his full vision comes to life like never before.

The new single "Drowning" follows up a string of recent hits as well. As he regularly averages a staggering 4 million monthly listeners on Spotify, "Let Me Love You" generated over 7 million Spotify streams in under a year, and has an accumulative 341,059,685 views on his official Vevo channel. Mario stands primed to ignite a movement in 2018.

Get ready for Dancing Shadows and Mario's biggest and boldest phase yet.

In 2002, Mario emerged as a Pop/R&B leader with his breakout smash "Just a Friend." A consistent stream of hits followed as he earned a GRAMMY Award nod, won two Billboard Music Awards, and landed on Billboard's coveted "Artists of the Decade" list. Beyond selling millions of records and packing shows worldwide, he starred in Step Up and Freedom Writers and appeared on Dancing with the Stars. As a lifelong philanthropist, he founded the Do Right Foundation in 2008 to help children faced with drug addicted parents.
