Grammy award winner and a newgrass/bluegrass pioneer Sam Bush brings string-pickin' virtuosity to The Eccles Center on Saturday, February 28. Concert starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available by calling 435-655-3114 or online at EcclesCenter.org.

"One of the greatest and most innovative mandolin players alive," (American Songwriter), Bush is also a champion fiddle player and vocalist. His music is rooted in bluegrass, but the "King of Telluride" also ventures into jazz, rock, blues, funk and beyond. As co-founder of New Grass Revival (which released its debut album in 1972), he and Courtney Johnson left an indelible impact on the genre - by helping to broaden its definition and consequently influencing a new generation of newgrass musicians. Over the course of his career, Bush has released seven albums and played and recorded alongside everyone from Bill Monroe and Emmylou Harris to Bela Fleck and Lyle Lovett.

Since receiving his first mandolin at age 11, Bush has cultivated lightning fast and riveting string playing. And his fiddle playing, songwriting and vocals sometimes rival prowess on the mandolin. In reviewing Bush's album "Circles Around Me," Glide Magazine writes "Traditional bluegrass numbers... showcase Bush and company at the top of their game. Softer numbers... give Bush a chance to exhibit his tender, honest vocals which are sometimes overlooked..."

"There is a genuine and profound love of bluegrass here in Park City," says PCI executive director Teri Orr. "And what better musician to bring to the mountains than the King of Newgrass himself?"

Bush commands a crowd as he delivers Americana-infused tunes with incredible musicianship as well as infectious energy. His band is comprised of Todd Parks (bass and vocals), Scott Vestal (banjo and vocals), Stephen Mougin (guitar, vocals) and Chris Brown (drums).
