Bandsintown Celebrates The Music And Spirit Of The Velvet Underground With The Launch Of The Bandsintown Studio In New York City

Bandsintown, the most trusted source of concert discovery that connects passionate music fans with the artist they love, today announced the launch of The Bandsintown Studio, a dedicated performance space located in the new Velvet Underground Experience exhibition open to the public this Wednesday, October 10th.

The Velvet Underground Experience is an intriguing new multi-media art and music exhibition spotlighting the iconic band's early NYC roots the first global exhibition dedicated to the Velvet Underground and its influence on modern music, fashion, art & popular culture, set against the backdrop of the band's early days collaborating with Andy Warhol in NYC in the 1960s.

On every Tuesday and Thursday at 5:00 PM through December 30, The Bandsintown Studio will play host to various conversations and panels featuring a range cultural figures with close ties to the band. The venue will also feature an ongoing bi-weekly residency showcasing performances from emerging artists spanning multiple genres who have been influenced by The Velvet Underground. Programmed and curated by Bandsintown, the intimate 100-capacity room is a place for intriguing conversations, original ideas, and unforgettable live performances.

The Bandsintown Studio will also host legendary musician and co-founder of The Velvet Underground John Cale who will participate in a special moderated Q&A on Thursday, October 11 at 5:00pm. During the Q&A, fans will be able to hear from Cale about the indelible impression the band had on the music scene in the 1960's, his relationship with Lou Reed, the band's lasting legacy and what it means to bring The Velvet Underground Experience to New York. At the end of the Q&A, the moderator will open up the floor for questions from the audience.

Several emerging artists, including artists selected by Bandsintown for its Big Break program, will perform at the space. As early as October 18th, Los Angeles based singer-songwriter Adrian Jean will kick off a regular weekly residency at the Bandsintown Studio ahead of the upcoming release of his infectious soul/pop/R&B debut EP titled Caged Bird.

Additional featured speakers include cinematographer Anthony Janelli, filmmaker Jonas Mekas, author and music critic Anthony de Curtis, director M.M. Serra, director Jonathan Caouette, former Lou Reed manager Tom Sarig, and more to be announced in the coming weeks.

"We have created the Bandsintown Studio to serve as a dedicated space within the Velvet Underground Experience to offer emerging artists a unique venue for performances and discussions dedicated to celebrating the Velvet Underground's legacy and spirit," said Fabrice Sergent, Bandsintown Managing Partner. The Velvet Underground Experience and the Bandsintown Studio are located at 718 Broadway in Greenwich Village. Admission to The Bandsintown Studio is included in the purchase of a ticket to The Velvet Underground Experience and subject to capacity.
