Animal Waves to Release EP1 September 28

Animal Waves is the lovechild of Robert Wayne Davis, an underground LA session player and former guitarist of Lauryn Hill. Today, Animal Waves release thunderous contemplation, "WTF", the first track from debut EP1, set for release on September 28.

"WTF" unfurls a ferocious guitar riff, followed by a blustering drum beat. The straight-arrow rock track is an instant-classic: introspective and relatable, with a hot chorus that seeps into your brain.

"Sometimes you must leave the bubble and think for yourself," says Davis. "In that practice, and in these times, we often find ourselves saying WTF."

The moment a guitar landed in Davis' hands he was immediately hooked and never looked back. Although his instrument has done the singing for most of his musical journey - including session work and touring opportunities with heroes like Slash, Marc Ford, Waddy Wachtel, Eric Gales and an energetic three year stint with Lauryn Hill - Robert felt the urge to have his voice heard.

To create a body of work that is an exact expression of his personal tastes and attitudes, Davis teamed up with longtime friend and writing partner Nathaniel Cox. Together they crafted a batch of fuzzed out, straight ahead rock tunes that have something to say about the state of affairs of the people "without ever forgetting how to party."

The itch to play the material live needed to be scratched, and Davis' first call was to old friend and bass player Charles Salvaggio who he knew would bring the right energy, enthusiasm and chops to the music. Through his manager, Robert was also eventually introduced to drummer Matt Zavorski who makes the band a true force and conveys the material to it's fullest potential.
