On September 30 th, locally celebrated restaurateur and philanthropist Mel Nicola will launch Cayenne, a new event series designed to reawaken the senses and instill a stronger sense of community in all who attend.

Hailing from New Jersey, Nicola has worked in the television industry and as a freelance journalist before pivoting to the culinary world. Throughout a span of 30 years, Mel Nicola co-owned and operated four restaurants, including the famous Nic's Beverly Hills known for innovative California cuisine and the visionary VodBox. An icon in Beverly Hills, Mel and her partner sold Nic's to pursue new adventures.

In 2013, Mel Nicola founded CAKE, an acronym for Culinary Arts Kids Eat, a non-profit that works with underserved youth to inspire healthier eating habits. The CAKE team apply the farm to table to their lives and become ambassadors of health to their community.

Seeing the impact that a healthy lifestyle had on underserved youth, Nicola realized a tremendous need for all of humanity find balance and connection to one another.

"Looking at our society today I realize that more and more of us are feeling disconnected from humanity, "stated Nicola. "We rarely get the opportunity to connect with others and share our stories. Cayenne is designed to lift us up to a life of joy, prosperity and bliss."

Combining healing arts and one of a kind culinary experiences, guests will also hand craft own beverages, break bread together and enjoy a compelling talk from a motivational speaker to inspire a more connected life.

The event series are hand curated at locations throughout L.A. They will be intimate, capping at fourteen people to ensure Cayenne remains tight-knit and supportive.
