Cultural Corps of Korean Buddhismis planning to hold the 'Korean Templestay and Temple Food Cultural Week' in New York, from September 24-30th. Templestay is a traditional cultural experience program allowing participants to experience the daily life of an ascetic in a temple deep in the mountains which is full of history and Korean Buddhist heritage.

Started in 2002 to introduce the excellence of traditional Korean culture, Templestay has been selected as a "Creative and Competitive Cultural Product" by the OECD and has been participated by over 2 million people from all over the world. The "Templestay in New York" promotional event will be held with the theme of "PyeongChang Winter Olympics with Templestay" in the light of coming 2018 Pyeonchang Winter Olympics.

Korean Templestay and Temple Food Cultural Week will take place at the Astor Center in Manhattan from September 26th to 28th (12:00 to 15:00). At the event, visitors can participate in a variety of activities such as : Woodblock printing, Lotus Flower Making, Print on Hand Fan,Tea time with a monk, Temple food sampling along with the Templestay photo exhibition and a "dak" paper doll display. In particular, temple food is the vegetarian food of Korean Buddhism ascetics. Through temple food sampling, all participants will have a valuable opportunity of tasting the food known for being neat, simple and nutritious in New York.

The New York Templestay Week can be experienced at various Korean temples in New York from September 24 to 30. The five Korean temples hosting the event are : Korean Buddhist Wonkaksa, Bulkwang Zen Center, Chogyesa in New York, Wonjuksa and Borisa in New Jersey. During the Templestay week, programs such as the tea ceremony, meditation, making lotus flower lanterns will take place and can be participatedby everyone.

Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in New York, Korean Cultural Center NY, Korea Tourism Organization New York Branch will be co-hosting this event.

Cultural Corps of Korean Buddhism- in order to revitalize the rich cultural tradition and resources of Korean Buddhism - it will conduct traditional Buddhist cultural projects in various fields such as cultural activities, education, exhibitions, research and campaigns for people around the world. *Woodblock printing: A printing experience with a wooden board, where Buddhist scriptures are carved, on Korean traditional paper.
