THE DIARY OF A DANCER Plays Final Performance at Shetler Studios

The Diary of a Dancer, a brand new one-person show, debuts at The Bridge Theatre @ Shetler Studios for a limited engagement January 21-23, 2010. Written by and starring Wade Dooley, Diary is the autobiographical tale of Mary Shennanbargger, an eighty-something retired performer-turned-teacher.

Directed by Shane Bland, The Diary of a Dancer tells the story of the fictional Mary Shennanbargger as she thumbs through her journal sharing stories and lessons from her humble beginnings in Moonshine City, Illinois, and on to her journey to the Big Apple. Pull up a chair, have a glass of orange soda, and enjoy aWerther's original candy as Mary shares a few pages from her diary of life.

Actor and writer Wade Dooley has worked with various sketch and improv groups both in Illinois and New York. He is the creator and librettist of Freedom Village: The Retirement Home Musical. As a performer, Dooley's credits include: The Awesome 80's Prom (Off-Broadway); The Radio City Christmas Spectacular; and Scott Alan's Monday Night New Voices (NYC).

Shane Bland is a performer and director who has worked throughout North America. Bland's directing/assistant directing projects include Evergreen by CaraReichel and Peter Mills (Prospect Theatre); Living Art by Sukari Jones and Oran Eldor (BMI workshop); Dreyfus in Rehearsal (Off-Broadway); and El Diva Del Voodoo (workshop). As a performer, Bland's credits include: How Now, Dow Jones (NYC Fringe); Andrew Lloyd Webber's Bombay Dreams (Original Broadway Cast, 1st US Tour ); Disney's The Lion King (Toronto Company); Disney's Beauty and the Beast (Montreal); and Harold Prince's Show Boat (Canada, 1st US Tour).

The Diary of a Dancer features costumes by Abbi Stern, lighting design by Stacey Rockwell, and set design by Aaron Switzer. Diary includes original music by composer Steven Silverstein and lyricist Andrew Zachary Cohen.

The Diary of a Dancer is presented at The Bridge Theatre @ Shetler Studios located at 244 W. 54th Street, 12th Floor, between Broadway and 8th Avenue. Doors open at 7:30pm. Tickets are $10 and are available at the door. For reservations please e-mail missmaryshen@gmail.com.
