The Martha Graham Dance Company's May GrahamDeconstructed event will focus on the Martha Graham Technique, Graham's codified physical vocabulary that has been compared to classical ballet in its scope. The evening will include a discussion about the creation of the technique and its essential elements. The Company will demonstrate highlights from a Graham class and will dance excerpts from Graham works that show the use of the technique as a language for the stage. Featured works include two solos for Medea from Cave of the Heart and "Steps in the Street" from Chronicle.

GrahamDeconstructed will take place Tuesday and Wednesday, May 2-3, at 7pm. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Tickets can be purchased online at www.marthagraham.org. The Martha Graham Studio Theater is located at 55 Bethune Street, 11th Floor (at the corner of Washington Street), in Manhattan.

GrahamDeconstructed offers audiences a unique opportunity to view great Graham works up close and to hear about the artistic and historical context of their creation from Artistic Director Janet Eilber. The program provides a glimpse of the artistic labor that goes on every day at the Martha Graham studios to preserve and augment Martha Graham's great legacy.
