Houston Symphony Restores Big Screen for SINGIN' IN THE RAIN With Live Orchestra, 2/5
The Houston Symphony will continue its trend of screening and performing live soundtrack for iconic films with Singin' in the Rain-Film with Live Orchestra at 8 p.m. onFebruary 5 and 6 and 2:30 p.m. on February 7.
Audiences can relive the blockbuster motion picture on the big screen as the orchestra, led by Principal POPS Conductor Designate Steven Reineke, performs the classic score made popular by Gene Kelly, Donald O'Connor and Debbie Reynolds.
Singin' in the Rain is a humorous depiction of Hollywood in the late 20s as three of its biggest movie stars make the transition from silent films to talking films, or "talkies." The film has been voted No. 1 "Greatest Movie Musical" by the American Film Institute and is an American classic. Its quintessential songs, "Make 'Em Laugh," "Good Morning" and the memorable title song, have endured for decades and remain favorites for musical-lovers worldwide.
The concert will take place at Jones Hall for the Performing Arts, 615 Louisiana Street, in Houston's Theater District.
