CAG Presents WORDS AND MUSIC

Concert Artists Guild opens its 2018-19 season of concerts with WORDS AND MUSIC: A CELEBRATION OF SONGS COMMISSIONED BY CAG. The one-hour concert is on Tuesday, September 25 at 7:30pm at the Kosciuszko Foundation, 15 East 65th Street in New York. Tickets are $25/$15 and can be purchased here.
The program presents thirteen songs by American composers recently commissioned by CAG. Three of the songs are world premieres: Michael Brown's "Bronze Statue of a Man" and "Marble Statue of Aphrodite", and Richard Wilson's "Words and Music: An Argument". The composers are:

Jeremy Gill, recipient of residencies and fellowships with Chautauqua Opera, Copland House, American Opera House, and the MacDowell Colony. www.jeremytgill.com
Jake Heggie, composer of the operas Dead Man Walking, Moby-Dick, It's a Wonderful Life, Great Scott, Three Decembers, Out of Darkness: Two Remain, and The Radio Hour. www.jakeheggie.com
Paul Moravec, recipient of the 2004 Pulitzer Prize in Music, the Rome Prize Fellowship, a Guggenheim Fellowship, awards from the American Academy of Letters, National Endowment for the Arts, and Rockefeller Foundation. www.paulmoravec.com
Richard Wilson, composer-in-residence with the American Symphony under Leon Botstein and recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship under which he composed the opera AEthelred the Unready. www.richardwilson.org
