Tyrone Pierre Dumas Releases 'So You Want to Be a Comedian' Tyrone Pierre Dumas’ job as a stand-up comedian gave him a chance to take his life’s personal experiences, observations and creative thinking on to a stage and or in front of people while performing and working to make them laugh. He did this for more than 23 years. Even though he was undiscovered, Dumas believes he was successful at making people think and laugh at the same time. He shares his personal story as a stand-up comedian in “So You Want to Be a Comedian” (published by Xlibris).

The book shares Dumas’ view of his comedy experiences that shaped his life forever as a stand-up comedian, father, grandfather, engineer, architect, friend, husband, mentor, motivator, social activist and church worker. Humor was Dumas’ therapy in hard and good times because it allowed him to find answers in his humor, which became a driving force for him to succeed in life.

“Writing funny and engaging jokes, monologues and other humorous materials sounded and looked easy for me until I stood up in front of a crowd of people and had to make it happen. The audience will answer your questions as you deliver your thoughts and humorous material to them with content that you hope will make them laugh. As an undiscovered comedian who never made it to the big time where I could have experienced fortune and fame, I have no regrets about what happened in my pursuit of a career in comedy,” Dumas says. “My high came from performing my material in front of a live audience and loving every moment of it. Whether I was booed off the stage, they looked at me as if I was crazy and or got a standing ovation of laughs and catcalls.”

“So You Want to Be a Comedian” reminds readers that success is what they make out of it. Experiences will give them various perspectives about people, life, love and the world around them. “I had success with no regrets. In the end and at present, I have a beautiful family and have had a wonderful life, lived. It is my pleasure to share my story and not as much about those missed opportunities. I love the profession of stand-up comedy and will always admire those who have chosen it as their way of living a successful life and career,” Dumas adds.
