Toronto's Sarah Perrin Announces New Website and Children's Book

TORONTO, ON - Sarah Perrin, an English teacher and author who writes under the penname Sarwat Perrin, has just announced new children's books bound to inspire young explorers and a new website, designed to provide information about her books and about various topics related to health, fun, and the importance of play. The blog on the site will provide info about upcoming events, courses, and more.

Of special interest on the site, http://www.sarahperrin.ca/, is the new Interactive Page for kids. It includes a science quiz called the "Virgo Capella Adventure" that lets participants know their potential as future scientists and explorers. Additionally, there is an ongoing section that talks about unusual Greek myths behind the constellations in the night sky, titled "Lost Secrets of the Constellations in the Night Sky." The first story in the series is about the "Curse of Orion The Hunter." This constellation is both popular and intriguing.

Also on the site, Perrin provides information about her books. The first, which was just launched, is titled "The Weird Adventures of Virgo Capella." With plans for a future installments in the Virgo series, Perrin's goal is to save children from the clutches of boredom by opening their minds and hearts to the magic of science around them. Nurturing future scientists and explorers is a close second.

"The Weird Adventures of Virgo Capella" is set in cosmopolitan Toronto, the sanctuary city for 'aliens'. Part of the action takes place against the backdrop of the well-known Ontario Science Centre. Twelve-year-old Virgo Capella and his sister Lyra may have just met an alien from Mars posing as a street kid. Biham's certainly odd enough, and his behavior is erratic. He has strange fits during which he trembles and his eyes dart in terror. But he couldn't really be an alien, could he?

The book alludes to the mysterious landscapes of the red planet, and includes factual data. Mars has always had a fascination for people. It has only mushroomed over the years, as the planet is the most accessible, and a human space flight to Mars is proposed within the next fifteen years.

Sarah holds a bachelor's of design degree from OCAD University in Toronto. Her time at OCAD U spurred her imagination and taught her the value of lateral thinking. She worked for many years in the marketing and promotion department of a major publishing company. Her job required considerable research in child-related topics, including the importance of play and curiosity in learning. As a member of the Education Development Committee of UNICEF Ontario, she helped produce resource materials for schools. Sarah lives in Toronto with her husband who claims they are the world's oldest children she heartily agrees.
