The story of boys in twenty-first century America is often without a happy ending. Studies show that boys are falling behind girls in virtually every area of life - from lower test scores and higher rates of prescribed medications to decreasing participation in spiritual life.

Inspired by a lifetime of ministry as a pastor, church leader and author, Tim Wright challenges church leaders, parents and educators to reverse the falling fortunes of our boys in his new book, Searching for Tom Sawyer: How Parents and Congregations Can Stop the Exodus of Boys from the Church.

An answer to the crisis facing boys in our society today, Searching for Tom Sawyer first provides an overview of the daunting challenges facing boys in the 21st Century before presenting practical techniques to change the current storyline of boys and calling them to follow Jesus into "heroic manhood".

"The techniques offered in Searching for Tom Sawyer aren't just theory", says Wright, who co-created the rite of passage program Following Jesus: A Heroic Quest for Boys with renowned child development expert Michael Gurian. "These are proven solutions that parents, teachers and church leaders can implement with authentic success."
