'There Once Was a Cat' Wins Apple Book Award for Excellence in Independent Publishing

"There Once Was a Cat" by Mary Jane Coogan chosen as Medalist Winner in the Specialty Books category of the 2015 New Apple Book Awards for Excellence in Independent Publishing.

Book Synopsis
"There Once Was a Cat" is designed for young readers, but cat lovers of all ages will treasure it. The reader travels through the alphabet, while enjoying poems about amusing cats, presented in watercolor illustrations. The book reinforces letter recognition and counting skills.

About the Author
From a very young age, Mary Jane Cogan loved cats and loved to draw. Those two interests never diminished, as she attended Penn State University, earning her bachelor's and master's degrees in education. She went on to become a classroom teacher, a reading teacher, and an author of educational materials. She also became an award-winning watercolorist. Mary Jane drew from her experiences as a cat lover, artist, and reading teacher to create her multi-faceted book, "There Once Was a Cat."

About The New Apple Book Awards
The Annual New Apple Book Awards for Excellence in Independent Publishing was established to honor the creative achievements of the unsung books fighting for their place within the digital publishing world. Any English language book published within the last three years, currently available for sale by an independent author or small press that met the Awards' guidelines was eligible for entry. One book was chosen in each category as the Medalist Winner receiving the highest honors. In addition, the judges were permitted to choose up to three Official Selections for category distinction.
