Sophia Taylor shares a step-by-step process for growing and caring for naturally long hair. Using her personal experiences, she tells how she battled her "bad" hair and how she devised a way to increase her hair's length and keep it healthy, the way nature intended, in "Black Girls Can Grow Naturally Long Hair" (published by iUniverse).

"Black girls and women always ask me about my natural hair, whenever I wear it natural in public," says Taylor. "That made me realize I have achieved something that other women like me want." This was the impetus that drove her to reveal her insights.

Citing a resurgence of black women going natural with their hair, and wanting to lead more healthy lives in general, Taylor shares how black women can avoid the expense of weaves, permanents, wigs and "all the other things they do to have nice hair," and maintain a beautiful, long head of hair naturally.

"I learned the hard way, by trial and error," says Taylor. "I made all the mistakes you can make, but I persisted and found my answers. Now I can help other women do it the easy way."
