The Bible is considered to be the most popular book in history and a huge number of homes in the world possess at least one copy of the Holy Scriptures. Not only that, it is also one of the most translated books in history ranging from Hebrew to Chinese. Yet it is also one of the most misinterpreted books since the time of antiquity. Indeed fanatics and demagogues have twisted the words in the Holy Scriptures to suit their own selfish and immoral purposes.

"Seeing With The Heart And Soul," author Rev. Reginald C. Rodman presents an unambiguous reading of the Bible that does not allow for misinterpretation. It is a revolutionary, humanist re-reading that burnishes the Bible's absolutely important role in the life modern man.

Rodman's new creative takes on the Holy Scriptures have had echoes throughout the admittedly checkered history of the Bible with regards to politics and society. In his book, the author adds a wise, wholly supportable modern perspective to the Good Book. Thus, he provides a respectable base for the clever, even controversial, philosophical revamping of many beloved Bible stories and its characters.

These revamps include the conceptualizing of Adam and Eve's sad exile from the Garden of Eden as not a punishment but as a kindness done by God to his beloved children so that mankind can stretch out his wings and learn the true beauty of existence and the difference between right and wrong. There is also the modern new take on the story of Noah and the true significance of John the Baptist's mission as the one who introduces Jesus as the son of God.

Further examples include a touching letter to the Virgin Mary thanking her for the love and care she gave to Jesus and the incredible pain it must have felt for her to see her son brutally beaten and crucified on the cross. Each story, despite their re-workings of Holy Scriptures and its accepted interpretation, is beautifully written and leavened by modern anachronisms that are tailor made to give the desired impact for each story. Readers will go away convinced, if not of the Bible's relevance today, at least of its undeniable power to reach out and touch the divine chord in human hearts.
