Sci-Fi Novel SPECTRUM is Announced

Independent publisher C&R Press continues to expand its footprint in the U.S. and abroad through an international deal with MacMillan Distribution to support the release of the literary sci-fi novel Spectrum. Penned by prize-winning author Martin Ott, Spectrum chronicles an America ravaged by a race war.

Spectrum is a novel about racism and walls, and holds up a mirror to our current political landscape. It's a novel about the outer spectrum of what we love and hate, and the inner spectrum of the people we love and hate.

The novel chronicles the lives of two scientists, once lovers, now enemies, whose shared invention was used to catastrophic ends and the war they've waged against one another for hundreds of years.

One of the scientists, Mere Roosevelt, discovers that he is a clone and to survive he may have to turn into the person he hates most, a mass murderer who almost destroyed the world by setting off a race war. The other scientist, Mona Teller, becomes ruthless in her quest to try to make amends for her invention, an organic computer capable of recreating any substance, even humans.

This invention fuels everything in the city but is also falling apart at its core. A world built on the model of a human mind threatens to shake the world apart even as this ancient struggle between lovers turned enemies comes to a conclusion.

Spectrum asks us to examine the very nature of black and white, up and down, and good and evil in this science fiction epic about love and hate.
