Isla, a Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle resting on the beach at Waikiki, notices a couple practicing a partner routine for a dance competition. Intrigued, she decides she, too, wants to dance, and more so, partner dance. But how to do it? Written for adults to read aloud to their children, and youth to 16 years of age to read and enjoy. Lavishly illustrated in black and white for reader coloring opportunities, "The Turtle Dances" is the third in the Savant "Color-Me-Please" children's book series.
Multi-award-winning author Daniel S. Janik resides in Honolulu, Hawaii, with his wife and competitive dance partner, Setsuko Tsuchiya. Together they welcome the Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles to Hawaii throughout the year. "A champion of transformative learning, I was challenged several years ago to write a story that would demonstrate this unique knowlege-and-wisdom-centered approach to learning," says Janik. "The result was 'A Whale's Tale'. Challenged to do it again, I brought three experiential strands education, dancesport and Hawaiian Green Sea turtles together in what I'm proud to say has proved to be an unqualified success. All-in-all, I'm thrilled to have 'The Turtle Dances' out, and be writing for Savant, side-by-side with the best new and established writers, and some of the best editors, illustrators, cover artists and photographers with whom I've ever worked."Videos
