Legend has it that Ernest Hemingway was challenged to write a novel in just six words. He wrote, "For Sale: Baby Shoes, Never Worn." Leveraging the success and premise of Creator Larry Smith's best-selling book series, "Six-Word Memoirs," Hamilton Buhl (www.hamiltonbuhl.com/sixword) is launching "Six-Words for Schools," a teacher-developed interactive workbook series for students of all grades and ages to express themselves and discover their world in six words.

Hamilton Buhl, an innovator of educational products whose slogan is "Never Ending Learning Innovation," converted the Six-Word concept into an interactive workbook that teachers and educators can use within schools and classrooms to help students improve writing skills, encourage creativity and inspire storytelling. Parents are also encouraged to use the workbook at home with their children.

"Anyone can tell a story. Everyone is a writer. Some just need a prompt or a spark. Six-Word Memoirs, and now 'Six-Words for Schools' provide educators with a creative and unique platform to encourage their students to think and write about themselves or their experiences in six words," said Smith.

Developed by New York City schoolteachers, the "Six-Words for Schools" workbook is aligned with the Common Core Standards, which guides students through the writing process as they create their own six-word memoirs.

"To meet standard testing requirements, students are asked to draw inferences from a text, which often means using clues to find a hidden meaning," said Sara Silver, New York City schoolteacher and contributor to the workbook. "Six-Words for Schools introduces a new, engaging process that provides students with opportunities to practice important literacy skills, while expressing their thoughts through creative writing."

This first edition of "Six-Words for Schools" workbook kit can be purchased through school supply dealers, educational stores nationwide and at www.hamiltonbuhl.com/sixword. Teachers and suppliers will be able to buy workbooks in a pack of 30 which includes a teacher's guide as well as the student workbooks. In addition, they can purchase the classroom multimedia kit which includes the guide, 30 workbooks, and a camera for the classroom exercises to be digitally captured and posted on the Hamilton Buhl website.

In addition, teachers have the ability to post classroom memoirs in an online forum that may be published in future books and provide classroom prizes for outstanding submissions.
