The pantheon of alien invasion literature got another induction in 2009 with the release of S. Edward Aanes' novel, "Shadows" (published by Trafford Publishing). Recently the novel has been enjoying a renewed marketing push. The book will be featured in an upcoming issue of Ingram Advance catalog and will be reviewed by the US Review of Books.

Aanes' story paints a frightening tale of intelligent planning and impressive patience. In the story, a "Being" has landed on Earth centuries ago with a mission of conquest. Since that time, it has waited for the right moment and the right ally with which to begin its plan. The Being finds its ally in Billy Beaudet, an unhappy boy who thinks he has just stumbled upon the solution to all his problems.

"'Shadows' is an action adventure that leaves the reader wondering what will happen next," shares Aanes. "More deeply, it is a dark psychological exploration of unfulfilled human needs and the often frightening drive behind the urge to find one's place in one's world."

An excerpt from "Shadows":

"In Billy's deepest heart he was longing for his father just to be there for him. First Lieutenant Jacques 'Jock' Beaudet had often played chess with his fellow Marine officers. Billy felt life would have been immeasurably better had his father not died on the other side of the world."
