Electrical engineering and mathematics scholar Ronald J. Fischer explores the implications of telekinesis in his new science fiction novel, "The Powers of the Mind" (published by Archway Publishing).

Tennis player Steven Thomas suddenly finds he has telekinetic powers and uses them to win tennis tournaments. He begins realizing he has the power to do much more with his powers than just win matches. He decides he must use his gift to make the world a better place. When there comes another person who has the same powers but becomes a criminal, Steven is hired by the CIA to catch him.

Within Fischer's novel, the author tries to incorporate not only entertainment, but also ideas about social change.

An excerpt from "The Powers of the Mind":

"He decided to experiment further. He tried retrieving other utensils from the drawer without touching them and was able to do so with his mental power. He saw a dish in the drainer about ten feet away. He pointed to it, and floated it over to his hand. He tried it with dishes, books, pots, and pans. He could move them all!"
