Author Rick Carnevali regales readers with tales of the crazy adventures from his life as a state patrol trooper and pilot in his new book, "When Pigs Fly: The Irreverent Tales of a Bear in the Air" (published by AuthorHouse).

"Everyone likes reading about dumb criminals, of which I encountered hundreds," Carnevali says. "My flying exploits ran the gamut: from airborne dog-fights with drug runners, engine failures, and severe in-flight weather, to flying several different governors, serial killers and other notables all over the country."

Carnevali writes about the dangerous events he encountered with a humorous, after-the-fact perspective. He shares stories from his daily life as a road trooper and as an airborne law enforcement officer dealing with the drunk and sociopathic members of society. From a lighthearted viewpoint he discusses the exciting aspects of his dangerous career choice - where exciting events occur by the minute and are often discovered to be hilarious after the dust has settled.

"My book gives an eye-in-the-sky view of airborne law enforcement and an insider's look at the workings of a major state police organization's airborne unit, with emphasis on what can, and often did, go wrong," Carnevali says.
