In "Reflections - A Parent SOULution: How to create a harmonious relationship with your child, teenager or adult-child" (published by Balboa Press), author Denise Gardens provides parents with a roadmap to heal their troubled relationships with their children. Gardens also shares her own struggles she had with her son to demonstrate how her determination to heal their relationship led her to a profound spiritual awakening.

Gardens says this guidebook will help "to free parents from the illusion that the root cause of their suffering is not due to their difficult parent-child relationships, but rather (...) their lack of self-awareness that their children are mirroring the turmoil that exists within them."

Citing a report from the U.S. Department of Education, the author highlights that almost 2,000 high schools across the United States graduate less than 60% of their students; Gardens says these statistics suggest "parents are experiencing serious issues with their children." She also adduces a high divorce rate and prevalence of alcohol abuse having an impact on the family unit.

Ultimately, Gardens hopes her book will provide readers with the tools to mend their bond with their children. "I would like parents to understand how their children are offering them the opportunity to heal their own lives by mirroring their parent's inner worlds," she says. "Being conscious of this is the first step to healing their own lives."
