In "Tortured Innocence" (published by iUniverse), author Nikiforos Vourakis' new novel, readers are transported to high school where teenage angst, worry and happiness dance hand-in-hand.

After a failed confession to a classmate, Veronica, Chris' finds himself drifting back towards his ex, Rachael. Because he has amnesia, he does not remember why they broke up, but after a kiss, Chris decides it is time that they get back together. As his memory slowly starts to come back, he keeps getting a nagging feeling that there is an important letter that will help him remember everything.

Then one night, Rachael stumbles upon the letter and losses herself. It seems that the letter, which was intended for another classmate, confesses Chris' love for that individual and not her. After Chris looks over the letter, he decides it is time to talk with that individual, but with the other classmate beside themselves with embarrassment and uncertainty this proves hard. If that is not perplexing enough for him, Rachael forgives him a couple days later and then a new classmate steps into the picture and confesses his love towards Chris. What is a boy to do?

An excerpt from "Tortured Innocence":

"We leave the school and go home. After that, all day I am wondering what kind of guys Veronica may like. Finally, it's night, and I can put the whole thing to rest. I lie on my bed, and I close my eyes for a couple of seconds. In my head, a letter pops up, and I feel that it is important for some reason. I sit on the edge of the bed and try to figure out if it means anything important. I can't figure anything out. I will stress about it tomorrow."

"I want readers to take with them the emotions I wrote in every page," says Vourakis. "I want them to take the good, the bad and every tear shed to make it happen. I love this book and want every person that picks it up to love it as much as me."
