New Orleans native Alexandrea Weis has been awarded top honors in the Feathered Quill Book Awards for her latest novel, Blackwell: The Prequel, The Magnus Blackwell Series. Blackwell, written by Weis along with Lucas Astor, was named Gold Medalist for Best Mystery of the Year in the 2017 Feathered Quill Book Awards Program.

Suspenseful, alluring, and mesmerizing, Blackwell is a powerful novel resplendent with vivid characters, a seamless storyline and a setting-to-die for- the rich and unmistakable tapestry of New Orleans.

About Blackwell: The Prequel, The Magnus Blackwell Series: It's the late 1800s and Magnus Blackwell, a handsome, wealthy New Englander, is the envy of all. When Magnus meets Jacob O'Conner-a Harvard student from the working class-an unlikely friendship is forged. But that close bond is soon put to the test by a captivating woman; a woman whom Magnus desires, but whom Jacob gets. Devastated, Magnus seeks solace in a trip to New Orleans. After a chance meeting with Oscar Wilde, Magnus becomes immersed in a world of depravity and brutality, inevitably becoming the inspiration for Dorian Gray. Armed with the forbidden magic of voodoo, Magnus sets his sights on winning back the woman Jacob stole from him. Amid the trappings of Victorian society, two men, bent on revenge, will lay the foundation for a curse that could alter their destinies-and the destinies of countless others. Irretrievably. And forever.

According to Ellen Feld, founder of Feathered Quill Book Reviews, "We were overwhelmed by both the quantity and caliber of entries in this year's Feathered Quill Book Awards. While this year's awards program boasted an extremely large volume of excellent entries, the competition among mystery novels was especially close, as we were presented with so many worthy contenders. Blackwell by Alexandrea Weis was a true standout. This incredible novel has all of the elements we look for in a winning book-strong plotting, an extraordinary storyline, and memorable, realistic characters. Blackwell is an extraordinary novel by an extraordinary writer, and it is our great honor to name Alexandrea Weis recipient of this year's award."
