The unsolved death of one man's father drives him back to his hometown to uncover the truth once and for all in author Cynthia Winkler's new mystery novel, "Iron Chariots: The Road Home" (published by WestBow Press).

Elias swore he would never return to his hometown of Benton, South Carolina. All he remembers of his last visit home is his dead father's body, a locked door, the cold January lake water and screams in the dark.

Now a call of duty is forcing Elias to return home once more, but this time, Elias vows to get answers. The oldest residents of the town have many secrets, and one of them must know what happened to Elias' father. Will he discover the truth or decide that maybe some secrets should be taken to the grave?

"All of our actions, good or bad, have a ripple effect on others," Winkler says. "Our good works are part of the groundwork of our society, in the same way that bad deeds undermine and weaken the foundation of our families and relationships, and thereby our nation."

Filled with suspense and plenty of unexpected twists, "Iron Chariots" weaves biblical insights into an engaging and carefully-crafted narrative. Through Elias' story, Winkler hopes to leave readers with a good understanding of biblical truths.
