New Marketing Campaign Launched for 'Canticle for Calyute'

Seasoned Australian writer Robert Halsey admits that the drama in the lives of people around the world has fascinated him. It inspired him in writing "Canticle for Calyute" (published by Partridge Singapore), his debut collection of 25 short stories that deals with aspects of what leads people to write their final paragraphs.

Published on February of 2015, this book transports readers on a journey through vivid settings and the eyes of eclectic characters as they face a variety of challenges. As a man stands in a barn and contemplates a decision that will bring the final curtain down on a tragic story, he returns to his memories to find solace as a curious observer watch. Eliab struggles to remember a time when happiness prevailed as he cautiously explores his old family home. Two Himalayan trekkers must make an agonizing choice on the bleak slopes of Kinchengunja. A priest is left to question his faith in God after an earthquake devastates the Dominican Republic.

An excerpt from the story "The Sirangi Player From Sago Lane" reads:

"Listen to the music of your past life and clasp tightly the wisdom of your inheritance."Was there some insight that made him utter these strange and intriguing words? I stood looking at him in wonder at what had just transpired. Was it possible that our souls had been in some kind of intuitive communication?"

Current issues are highlighted and dramatized in "Canticle for Calyute" to make readers feel they have been there and experienced it all. Many of these stories are contemporaneous.

Robert Halsey is an Anglo-Indian writer who immigrated to Australia in 1993. He earned a Master of Arts in English Literature degree from Aligarh University and taught in Australian schools for 27 years. Now retired, he resides with his wife in Bibra Lake where he leads a writers' club.
