Wollongong, Australia

During her career as a school teacher, M.R. Pickard witnessed the adverse effects of growing up without a positive male role model in many of her male students. She wondered what her late father, Ronald Ernest John Pickard, would say if he could speak to her students.

In her new book, "Agape: Lessons from My Father" (published by Balboa Press AU), Pickard compiles the wisdom and lessons of her father for young men and other readers seeking inspiration and guidance.

"Agape" takes an up-close look at what it means to be a man in the modern world. Channelling her father, Pickard discusses how people come to know love and why is there suffering in the world, outlining what it means to live a life of greatness.

Throughout her book, Pickard takes a no-nonsense, honest approach with her advice. She hopes her book will be a guide for parents and caretakers as well as a source of inspiration for young men in need of a role model.

"I have been told that I have a gift of explaining ideas simply, making them easy to understand. I have the urge to voice what many people want to say but for whatever reason cannot," writes Pickard. "The book will reassure and inspire."
