New Autobiography 'Detachments: If It Is Not by Loving, It Will Be by Hurting' is Released
During a difficult time in her life, Jacqueline Sewell began writing "Detachments: If It Is Not by Loving, It Will Be by Hurting" (published by Balboa Press AU) as a form of self-therapy to help overcome depression. Sewell wanted to share her story to help others in similar situations.
"I realised that since a young age, life has put me through so many horrific, difficult but important events to teach me the lessons of detachments," Sewell says. "In spite of all, I have also managed to come out of them wiser, fearless, positive and with a sense of duty to humanity."
Narrating how she navigates her course to self-discovery, Sewell shares that she thinks the trials in life teach more than merely observing and push people to seek spiritual help. One early event in her life that taught her about detachment was witnessing her father stab her mother at the age of 5. By sharing her story of perseverance, Sewell hopes to inspire readers to reflect on how difficult moments can reshape a person into something better.
"When facing some kind of suffering ... the tumult of changes come to restructure our most intimate creations," Sewell says, "forcing us to move into a new direction that will show the path of self-awakening."
