In "7 Essential Writing Tools: That Will Absolutely Make Your Writing Better (And Enliven Your Soul)" (published by Archway Publishing), professional writing coach Marni Freedman, M.S., LMFT, invites readers to fall in love with the magic that is writing, igniting their passion for the craft and encouraging them to be their best, tenacious selves. She wants to provide readers with writer-tested-and-approved tools on scene creation, plot, voice and character.

"Think of it as having an inspiring writing coach in your pocket," Freedman says. "I have been a writer for most of my life and I know the biggest pitfalls writers fall into. Some struggle with their emotional state - just getting to the page takes courage. Others struggle with the nuts and bolts of writing such as crafting a tight plot with interesting characters. This book tackles both of those issues."

An excerpt from "7 Essential Writing Tools":
When I first started out at the USC School of Film eight thousand years ago, I was convinced that you couldn't have both structure and soul. I believed that writing either contained structure OR soul. Years of experience on all sides of the game have taught me that the delicate marriage between the two is where the magic lies. The goal of this book is to help writers master the essential creative building blocks all writers should know (Structure) and to express their voice with vulnerability, authenticity and, my favorite, tenacity (Soul). If you stick with me on this journey, there is no doubt about it, you will elevate your craft.
