Author Lawrence Harvill's Applied Matrix Algebra is all set to join the 2013 Beijing Book Fair in Beijing, China, on August 28 - September 2, 2013. This book has been written to satisfy the needs of a one-semester introductory course in linear or matrix algebra. In this book, the theoretical aspects of linear algebra have been minimized, and particular emphasis has been placed on applications to aid in stimulating the reader's interest. Every effort has been made to provide a range of applications to appeal to students of diverse interests.

Applied Matrix Algebra is a practical and useful book that aims to develop an understanding of the fundamentals of matrix algebra as well as the differential and integral calculus of matrices that are fundamental for the analysis of a wide range of applied problems. When used in conjunction with a matrix computational program, those readers who make their way through the end should be in a position to readily analyze sophisticated and complex applied problems. Completion of the text should also prepare the reader for moving on to much more theoretical and advanced topics in linear algebra. Such additional study will enable one to more fully understand not only the mathematical complexities of the subject but to gain a greater insight also to the intricate details of the computational algorithms.

In Applied Matrix Algebra, Harvill has designed a great tool, backed with in-depth research and study, for students from the physical and biological sciences, mathematics, and engineering. It is hoped that students from the social and behavioral sciences including economics and business will also find the text of use as several examples and problems from those areas have been included as well.
