A hero's journey tale based on the legendary character Merlin, "The Last True Merlin of Britain: A Memoir" (published by iUniverse) traverses the British Isles in the late 5th and early 6th centuries. When the current iteration of Merlin suffers betrayal at the hands of one of his pupils, he vanishes, embarking on a final voyage that takes him to the shores of a new continent.

"A life-long interest in the Arthurian saga" inspired author Laura Embrey and forms the basis for the fantasy. Young adult readers in search of their own destinies are invited to join Merlin on his journey through real and spiritual landscapes.

Embrey's hope is that those who pick up her book will discover "Enthusiasm for life and a rekindled faith in humanity."

An excerpt from "The Last True Merlin of Britain":
Ynis Witrin has been holy from the time of the Ancient Ones, the Ancient Lords of the lost land that the famous Greek philosopher called Atlantis. They were the builders of the star temple and the originators of the wisdom teachings that your druid kind study to this day." This I knew but kept silent. "They moved the earth, stones, and the water courses using a power and magic the likes of which us, even you, druid, have no inkling. Using this magic, they drew a map of the heavens upon the earth, a map of the path of the sun, for theirs had been a sun kingdom ruled by the sun wisdom until the dark claw of the fallen one held the souls of the kings in thrall.
