Laguna Playhouse Women Present MEMORABLE CONVERSATIONS WITH SIX CELEBRATED AUTHORS Today

The Laguna Playhouse women invite book lovers to attend, "Memorable Conversations with Six Celebrated Authors," a program featuring a hosted reception, book sales and signings, and panel discussion, today, Monday, October 21, 5:30- 8:00pm, at The Laguna Playhouse, 606 Laguna Canyon Road, Laguna Beach, CA.

Authors include: Program Moderator Barbara DeMarco-Barrett, Gayle Brandeis, Mary Castillo, Alison Singh Gee, Jo-Ann Mapson and Tatjana Soli, who will provide an insider's view of the literary world and speak about their experiences, recent works and upcoming projects.

"We've got an exciting line-up of authors. This is the third annual Authors' Series Program presented by Playhouse Women, it's always a popular event," according to Ilona Martin, a Playhouse Women member and event organizer.

ABOUT THE AUTHORS:

Program Moderator BARBARA DEMARCO-BARRETT's first book, Pen on Fire: A Busy Woman's Guide to Igniting the Writer Within and "Crazy for You" is included in the new release, USA Noir: Best of the Akashic Noir Series. She has taught creative writing at UC Irvine Extension, hosts a radio show, Writers on Writing, on KUCI-FM, and Pen on Fire Speaker Series.

GAYLE BRANDEIS writes poetry, fiction and essays. Fruitflesh: Seeds of Inspiration for Women Who Write, is lively, poignant, and humorous. Prizing wining novels include: The Book of Dead Birds, Self Storage, and Delta Girls, and My Life with the Lincolns, for young readers. Gayle teaches Creative Writing at Antioch University, and is the current Inlandia Literary Laureate.

MARY CASTILLO writes romance and mystery for her dedicated fans. Her novels Switchcraft, In Between Men and Hot Tamara and novellas featured in the anthologies, Orange County Noir, Names I Call My Sister and Friday Night Chicas. Paranormal mysteries, Lost in the Light and Girl in the Mist, have been widely praised by critics and readers.

ALISON SINGH GEE's memoir Where the Peacocks Sing, was named a National Geographic Traveler Book of the Month. Writing credits include People magazine, Vanity Fair, In Style, International Herald Tribune, and the Los Angeles Times, Amnesty International Award for Human Rights Feature Writing. Teaches Creative Nonfiction at UCLA Extension.

JO-ANN MAPSON author of 12 award-winning novels including The Wilder Sisters, Bad Girl Creek,Blue Rodeo, Solomon's Oak, Finding Casey- nominated for a 2012 Reading the West Award. Owen's Daughter, the sequel to Blue Rodeo, featuring characters from Finding Casey, debuts July 2014.

TATJANA SOLI, novelist and short story writer, is author of The Lotus Eaters, a New York Timesbestseller, and The Forgetting Tree, a New York Times 2012 Notable Book. Her work has been listed in the 100 Distinguished Stories in Best American Short Stories

Hors d'oeuvres will be provided from Muldoon's Irish Pub. Book signing before and after author's panel discussion. Books will be sold by Laguna Beach Books. Program will begin promptly at 6:30 pm. Playhouse Women (PW) is a support group established in 2007 to develop awareness of and support for the non-profit Laguna Playhouse. Playhouse Women is comprised of women with a variety of talents and interests, including executives, community leaders, working moms, business owners, artists and others. All value great theatre in their community and want to ensure its long-term success.

Playhouse Women work together to designate and raise funds for specific projects that directly benefit The Laguna Playhouse, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The group also hosts special informational and friend-raising events for its members. Membership dues are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by the law.
