Midge Shusta makes her Xlibris debut with her latest novel "Light for a Vanished Sun." A rich, seamless tapestry of fact and fiction, this new novel follows the mysterious disappearance of five young hikers on the last day of their short-term mission in New Mexico's Navajo Country.

The story revolves around sixteen-year-old Brenda, a smart amateur geologist and her four-year-old sister, Merrilee; the freckle-faced Angela, an eleven-year-old used to getting her own way and Sarah, a street-wise, head-strong beauty of sixteen. Dave is a twenty-four-year-old, born in Hong Kong and rejected by his Buddhist family for accepting Jesus Christ.

Their stories unfold in dramatic fashion as one hair raising situation unravels into another; from the grueling hike of the present day, they find themselves trapped on the same plane, yet in a different time where they have impossible decisions to make; each one bearing life or death consequences.

A fine sculpture carved through the chaotic landscapes of reality, "Light for a Vanished Sun" takes readers on a journey full of suspense and surprises into the life and culture of the Navajo and Hopi tribes in the 17th century. It highlights the horrific impacts of terrorism which many citizens of the present endure every day. The author hopes to instill awareness, encourage action and empower faith through obeying the words of Christ that always lead to God's unending mercy and unfathomable Grace.

"We all need the assurance that, in these times of worldwide terrorist activities, evil is not in charge," says Shusta. "God almighty is. He was and forever will be."
